BayFM provides opportunity for community supportDecember 12, 2014 | BY BayFM
Bayfm has enjoyed amazing support from listeners in the last while. The support has been evident, particularly during the period the station was challenged with signal distribution issues. Earlier this year, lightning caused damage to critical equipment, resulting in frequent off-air status. The current, ongoing load-shedding further affects the station’s uninterrupted broadcasting ability.
“We have since sourced a permanent solution to both our power supply and signal distribution challenges. As we implement these solutions, we will have more time to focus on delivering excellent community radio. We know our listeners in our broadcast area are behind us 100%; we therefore want to give them an opportunity to contribute financially to building a sustainable on-air service”, says General Manager Antonio Venturini.
BayFM has to date been managing its own signal distribution. Within the foreseeable future and with sufficient financial support, signal distribution will be outsourced to Sentech, a state-owned enterprise responsible for various types of signal distribution. This will ensure greater coverage within and beyond our broadcast area, zero off-air incidences and enhanced radio quality.
To facilitate listener and corporate financial support, BayFM will launch its Telethon at 6am on Monday 15 December and continue until 9pm on Sunday 21 December.
