The Bay Celebrates World Retina Week
September 19, 2017 | BY BayFM
World Retina Week is set to begin today the 19th of September and will run until the 25th of September. This awareness week and Retina SA aim to bring attention to the strides made to cure retinal blindness.
Genetic retinal conditions have caused blindness in 150?000 South Africans. The objective if World Retina Week is to bring awareness to the fact that early identification and treatment of generic retinal conditions can reverse symptoms before blindness sets in.
World Retina Week is observed in 42 countries. It creates global awareness and focus on treatments available for people affected by retinal blinding conditions.
In celebration of the week, BayFM’s brunch presenter The Pushhh, will be interviewing members of Retina SA. Sighted and none, K9 and Homo sapiens alike will be in the BayFM 107.9 studio to discuss ways to battle genetic retinal conditions.
